Welcome to the Pirates Property Owners Association (PPOA)! We're located on the West End of Galveston Island, Texas, where our neighborhoods enjoy the scenic beauty of coastal living as well as the advantages of a major metropolitan area. Galveston is about 45 miles south of Houston on Interstate 45.

Our Pirates communities are made up of 1,700 homes: Pirates Beach, Pirates Beach West, and Pirates Landing Townhomes are adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico while Pirates Cove, Laffite's Cove, The Enclave of Pirates Cove, and The Villas are on, or close to, Galveston Bay. Residents enjoy endless recreational opportunities such as fishing, boating, kayaking, birding, golfing, surfing, cycling, or just strolling along the beach. Community amenities include a members-only Country Club and Golf Course.

Our neighborhoods are known for their paradise-like rest and relaxation atmosphere and include both full and part-time residents. In addition to the beach and bay, we are surrounded by the Artist Boat Coastal Heritage Preserve, Galveston Island State Park, and Laffite's Cove Nature Preserve, all of which are among the Island’s most beautiful natural resources.

Annual Dues Project
The Annual Dues Assessment vote to amend the Deed Restrictions in all Pirates Sections (excluding Laffite’s Cove, The Villas, and Pirates Landing Townhomes) passed in 15 of 18 Sections.

The vote was conducted May 1 – 31, 2024, the count was audited
and deemed accurate, and the changes in the Sections that passed are being filed with Galveston County. The vote summary is below.

As a result, the financial security of the Pirates Community will eventually grow revenue
at a pace that keeps up with current and future costs. In the Sections that supported this change, upon property sale/transfer of title, the Annual Dues Assessment will reset to $500 and be eligible for annual increases tied to no more than the Consumer Price Index percentage at the time annual dues are determined.

The three sections that did not approve the change are Pirates Beach 6, Pirates Beach
West Blocks 4 & 5, and Pirates Beach 12.  A new Deed Restriction amendment vote will
need to be held in these Sections and the board will determine how and when to proceed. Any owner may also volunteer to lead or participate in this effort so please contact a board member if interested.

Thank you to everyone who voted and participated in the robust discussions. Special
appreciation to former PPOA Board Member Gina Erwin for leading the effort.

Any questions regarding this project can be sent via the Contact Us link below.

Sincerely,
The PPOA Board of Directors
